Easy Homemaking Day 🧺✨
Cozy Cleaning, Deep Freezer Organization & A Tiny Apple Crumble That Deserved an Oscar 🍎😂
There is something wildly underrated about an easy homemaking day.
Not the dramatic “deep clean the entire house while repainting the ceiling and emotionally unraveling in the pantry” kind of productivity. No.
I’m talking about the slower homemaking days.
The gentle reset days.
Those “let’s fold laundry, reorganize the freezer, feed the chickens, and maybe make a tiny dessert because we deserve it” kind of days. 💛
And honestly? Those days might be my favorite.
Today’s video turned into exactly that. Nothing over-the-top. Not one thing exhausting.
Just realistic homemaking, cozy routines, and enough chicken commentary to keep things interesting. 😂🐔
If you’ve been craving a calmer pace lately, this easy homemaking day might just be your sign to stop trying to overhaul your entire life in one afternoon and instead focus on the tiny resets that quietly keep a home running.
Because sometimes the small things ARE the productive things.
The Chicken Committee Was Clocked In Early 🐔😂
The day started outside with the girls, who apparently had several opinions before I’d even had enough caffeine to process my own thoughts.
You know those mornings where the chickens are somehow louder than construction equipment? Yeah. That.
I was putting together a brand new raised chicken feeder which, let me just say, felt suspiciously like adult Legos with emotional consequences. 😭
Somehow there are always leftover screws.
And, somehow I’m always questioning the directions.
Somehow the chickens stand there supervising like tiny feathery middle managers.
But once it was assembled? Honestly… I loved it.

The new feeder keeps things cleaner, more organized, and hopefully prevents the usual chicken buffet situation where half the food somehow ends up on the ground five seconds later.
Tiny velociraptors. Every last one of them.
And watching them immediately investigate the feeder afterward was genuinely adorable.
Chickens are deeply nosy creatures. If anything changes in their environment by even HALF an inch, they must inspect it immediately. 😂
Slow Homemaking Days Matter Too ✨
I think sometimes social media has convinced people that productivity only “counts” if you completely transform your house in one day.
Meanwhile, in reality?
A productive day can literally be:
- starting a load of laundry
- reorganizing the freezer
- wiping the counters
- feeding the chickens
- cooking dinner
- not crying in the pantry
That counts. 😂💛
This easy homemaking day reminded me how much I actually enjoy slower-paced home routines. There wasn’t pressure to create some giant makeover moment.
I was just moving through the house naturally and taking care of things one at a time.
And honestly? That’s usually when my home feels the best.
The Deep Freezer Reset That Weirdly Healed Me ❄️🥩
Okay. I did NOT expect organizing a deep freezer to become the highlight of my day, but here we are.
My husband brought home a huge meat haul from Texas, which meant it was finally time to tackle the freezer situation once and for all.
And let me tell you…
There are two versions of every deep freezer:
- The version you THINK exists.
- The terrifying archaeological dig underneath. 😂
We started sorting everything by cuts, organizing the beef, stacking things neatly, and trying to create a system where Future Rita doesn’t have to perform freezer excavation every time she needs hamburger meat.
Because nothing humbles a person faster than pulling out frozen mystery packages from the bottom of a deep freezer like:
“Is this soup?
Chili? A roast?
Why is there no label?
Why am I like this?” 😭
But honestly? This project was fun.
There’s something deeply comforting about having a stocked freezer and organized pantry.
It creates this weird little sense of calm knowing meals are planned ahead, food is available, and future-you is going to be very grateful later.
It also felt really satisfying doing this project together. Homemaking isn’t always glamorous, but these tiny domestic moments become core memories before you even realize it.
Are You a Deep Freezer Household? 👀
Okay, now I genuinely want to know.
Are you:
- a deep freezer family?
- a bulk shopper?
- a “buy groceries weekly” person?
- a pantry stockpile queen?
- someone surviving entirely on vibes and takeout? 😂
Because I LOVE hearing how other people run their homes.
Some people buy only what they need for the week.
Other people prep months ahead.
Some people freeze everything.
Some people meal prep like tactical warfare.
Meanwhile, I’m over here dramatically labeling freezer bags like I’m hosting my own tiny cooking show. 💀
Cozy Homemaking Is Really Just Tiny Resets 🌿
One thing I’ve learned lately is that homemaking rarely feels “finished.”
There’s always another:
- dish
- laundry load
- clutter pile
- chicken mess
- grocery trip
- weird cabinet situation
And honestly? That used to stress me out.
But now I think homemaking is less about finishing and more about rhythm.
It’s tiny resets.
That’s it.
You wipe the counter.
Tomorrow it gets dirty again.
You fold the laundry.
Tomorrow there’s another pile.
The point isn’t perfection. The point is creating a home that feels good to live in.
Even imperfectly.
Especially imperfectly. 💛
The Tiny Apple Crumble That Became The Main Character 🍎😂
Now let’s discuss the emotional support dessert of the day.
I had exactly two apples left that desperately needed to be used before they crossed into “science experiment” territory.
And for some reason, my brain immediately went:
APPLE CRUMBLE.
Which honestly made no sense because:
- I barely had ingredients
- I didn’t have oats
- I wasn’t planning dessert
- I already had enough kitchen cleanup happening
But cozy kitchen chaos waits for no one. 😂
So I improvised.
Instead of slicing the apples traditionally, I tossed them into the food processor because I wanted them to cook faster.
Then I made a super simple crumble topping using flour instead of oats, threw it all into a little skillet situation, and hoped for the best.
And somehow?
It came out AMAZING.
Like suspiciously good.
This tiny chaotic dessert had absolutely no business tasting that cozy.
Mini Apple Crumble Recipe 🍎✨
Ingredients:
- 2 apples
- sugar
- cinnamon
- flour
- butter
- chaotic optimism
Directions:
- Toss apples into food processor.
- Add cinnamon + sugar.
- Make quick crumble topping with flour + butter.
- Bake until your kitchen smells like emotional healing.
Done. 😂
Honestly, some of the best recipes happen when you’re just trying not to waste ingredients.
The Kitchen Cleanup Aftermath 😭🧽
Of course after every “quick little recipe” comes the inevitable kitchen tornado aftermath.
Why does one tiny dessert somehow require:
- three bowls
- two utensils
- measuring cups
- a cutting board
- emotional recovery
I don’t understand it either. 😂
But I always try to clean as I go whenever possible because Future Me deserves better than waking up to yesterday’s disaster sitting in the sink staring at me judgmentally.
Even a small kitchen reset makes the entire house feel calmer.
And honestly, once the counters were wiped down and everything was reset again, the whole house just felt cozy.
That’s the magic of homemaking.
Tiny effort. Huge emotional payoff.
Why I’ve Been Craving Slower Content Lately ✨
The last few weeks of videos have been:
- huge spring cleaning pushes
- deep declutters
- giant projects
- nonstop resets
- chaos energy 😂
So this week felt different.
And I think I needed that.
This easy homemaking day reminded me that content doesn’t always have to be huge to matter.
Sometimes people just want:
- realistic routines
- calm energy
- cozy kitchens
- chickens doing weird things
- laundry motivation
- someone else trying their best
Honestly? Same. 😂💛
Poshmark, WhatNot & The Great Declutter Mission 👗✨
Speaking of… lol
One thing I’ve been slowly working on behind the scenes is continuing the giant declutter mission around this house.
And instead of immediately donating everything, I’m trying to:
- list pieces on Poshmark
- prep future WhatNot sales
- slowly move clutter OUT of the house
Because apparently I’ve spent years accidentally opening a tiny department store in my closets. 😭
The Poshmark closet is officially up and running now, which feels exciting honestly.

Homemaking Doesn’t Have To Be Perfect ✨
I think the biggest takeaway from today is this:
Your home does not need to look like a magazine to be a good home.
You don’t have to:
- finish every project
- clean every room
- organize every cabinet
- become a minimalist overnight
- meal prep 47 freezer meals
You can just… do what you can.
An easy homemaking day still matters.
The laundry matters.
The wiped counters matter.
The stocked freezer matters.
The little routines matter.
And honestly? Sometimes those quiet days are the ones that hold everything together.
Near-Final Thoughts 💛
Thank you for hanging out with me for another realistic homemaking day full of:
- freezer organizing
- chickens
- laundry
- cozy recipes
- kitchen resets
- tiny productive moments
These are honestly some of my favorite kinds of videos to make lately because they feel real.
Not perfect.
Not polished.
Just home.
And sometimes that’s exactly enough. ✨
Some Additional Things that Got Me Thinking…
Kitchen Cleaning Tips I Swear By:
- Use a rinse bucket to pre-soak stubborn dishes. Game changer.
- Microfiber cloths are your best friend for quick counter resets.
- Clean-as-you-go keeps the overwhelm at bay.
By the end of this, I was already breathing easier—and had the dishwasher running while I moved on to phase two. ✅
🧺 I Started Folding Laundry Like a Boss (Kinda)
No seasonal reset is complete without laundry. Mountains of it. 🧺
I set a timer, turned on a podcast, and got to work. Nothing fancy here—just the rhythm of folding, sorting, and trying to stay on top of the never-ending fabric parade.
Laundry is one of those chores that feels never-ending, but somehow calming when you lean into it. Plus, it’s a good excuse to sit down for a few minutes. 😌
Laundry Hack You’ll Love:
Keep a basket of mismatched socks labeled “Sock Singles.” Once a week, do a mini sock-matching game. If it’s still solo after a month? Goodbye. 👋
😬 Oh! And The Chore I Hate the Most… Let’s Do This
Alright. This is where things get real.
The bathtub.
Scrubbing soap scum, reaching awkward corners, fighting off the urge to just shut the curtain and pretend it’s clean?
Yeah, I’ve been there. But today, I committed to just doing it.
How I tackle the dreaded bathtub chore:
- Sprinkle baking soda and a few drops of essential oil (like tea tree or eucalyptus) over the surface.
- Spray white vinegar and let the fizzing begin.
- Use a scrub brush with a long handle to save your back.
- Finish with a rinse and a microfiber polish.
It took about 20 minutes, but once it was done? ✨ Satisfying. The shine, the fresh scent, the pride of pushing through the resistance—totally worth it.
✨ A Moment for Gratitude in the Grime
Here’s the thing: even in the mess, there’s room for gratitude.
I took a moment (mid-scrub!) to thank my body for showing up and doing the hard things. Thanked my home for giving me a place to clean.
And I thanked the new season for its invitation to slow down and reset.
Gratitude isn’t just for journaling—bring it into your daily tasks. It turns “Ugh, I have to do this” into “I get to do this.” 🌿
🧹 Final Thoughts: Embrace the Mess, Find the Magic
Sometimes the hardest part of homemaking isn’t the task—it’s the motivation to start. But once you dive in, you realize the beauty of progress over perfection.
Whether it’s folding laundry, scrubbing the bathtub, or swapping seasonal décor, every little act of care adds up to a home that hugs you back.
So next time you’re dreading a chore, try this:
- Put on some music (or me 😉)
- Light a candle
- Start with the easiest thing
- Find one thing to be grateful for
Homemaking isn’t about spotless perfection. It’s about making your space feel like you.
🧡 Let’s Share Some Recipes
High Altitude Bread Recipe
2.5 C flour Dash of Salt 1 Tbls Olive Oil
1pkt (or 2 Tblsp) Dry Yeast 1 tsp sugar 1 + ¼ C water
Mix together salt + flour in a medium bowl. In a measuring cup, add the yeast, sugar, and water. Allow 5 minutes or so to proof the yeast. (a fancy term for foamy.) Add yeast mixture to flour mixture. Blend until a ball forms. Add oil on top, sides, and bottom of dough ball. Cover to retain moisture. (A damp towel will work for this!) Let rise. Approx. an hour or so. After first rise, transfer to a bread loaf pan, giving it one stretch horizontally, turn the dough, and stretch again. Place gently into pan. (if you don’t have a loaf pan, don’t worry, you can shape it how you want on a sheet pan too!) Dust the top with flour and place towel on top to allow to rise again.
Preheat the oven 450 degrees. Place in oven and bake for 22 minutes. Then, lower heat to 400 degrees, and continue to bake an additional 16 minutes. Remove from oven and tip over to cool on cooling rack. (don’t leave it in the pan, it will sweat as it cools and get soggy!)
Garlic Aoli Sauce
1 C mayo 1 C greek yogurt (for more ranch-like flavor, substitute sour cream)
2-4 lemons for lemon juice Garlic cloves, minced (6-8 cloves, as necessary for stronger taste)
Salt & Pepper
Mix all ingredients together. Keep in mind if you want a runny texture use more lemon juice, more thick, add in more mayo or yogurt. Let stand to let the ingredients meld together. Serve chilled!
