soft homemaking means to me...

🏡 A Soft Start to Homemaking: Trails, Hot Sauce, & Clean Sheets ✨

Let’s be honest—not every homemaking day has to be a full-blown deep-cleaning, triple-laundry-load, sourdough-starter-on-the-counter, kids-screaming, chaos-fueled adventure (though… yes, sometimes, it’s exactly that).

Today was not that day. 🙂

Today, we’re talking light homemaking vibes. A soft start.

Some light chores. A pinch of spice. And a whole lot of cozy.

So if you came here looking for tips on how to mop your entire house with lemon-infused intention water under the full moon… I’m gonna gently guide you toward a different post. 😂

Let’s walk through the day, shall we?

🌄 Trail Running (Why? Still not sure.)

The day started with a trail run. Yes, I ran. On purpose.

With people. Outside.

And not just around the block—we hit the dusty paths, the inclines, and those little rocks that love to find their way into your shoes and make you question every decision that brought you there.

Honestly, I’m not a morning runner.

I’m more of a morning sit and stare into space while sipping coffee and questioning life choices kind of gal. But the fam was ready, and I laced up and joined.

Mostly because the fresh air felt like a free facial and because I secretly love pretending I’m in a training montage from a 90s sports movie.

By minute seven, I was wondering if my lungs had always made that wheezing sound. By minute fifteen, I was in the groove—the cardio groove, that is.

That magical moment when your brain stops yelling at you to quit and instead starts planning breakfast.

🏃‍♀️💨 10/10 recommend for the dopamine.
1/10 for the humidity-induced helmet hair.

After pretending to be athletic, okay, okay… I am fairly athletic; regardless, it was time to do what I do best: put my face on.

Some people call it makeup. I call it building the illusion of energy and structure on top of a sleep-deprived canvas.

We started with the holy trinity: moisturizer, concealer, and sheer willpower. Then came the magic: a little foundation, some blush to fake a “fresh from the trail” flush (because let’s be real, the real flush is not cute), and mascara to let the eyes scream, “I have my life together!”

It’s like:
💊 Moisturizer
👁️ Concealer (a.k.a. legally required)
🛌 Lip balm because I still haven’t unpacked the nice gloss
💅 And a little blush so I can fake being alive

Do I always know what I’m doing? No.
Does it still come together by magic and muscle memory? Somehow, yes.

There is a specific confidence that comes from feeling like your outside matches the inside—even if the inside is still slightly sore from trail running.

Let’s talk about one of today’s boldest decisions: making homemade Mexican hot sauce.

Why? Because I saw three TikToks and suddenly believed I had the skills of a street taco vendor in Oaxaca.

I grabbed my fresh tomatoes like I was on a cooking competition show. Threw garlic into the blender like a boss.

And added jalapeños with the confident wrist-flick of someone who definitely did not read the measurements.

FYI: I rarely read the measurements.

Ingredients?
• Tomatoes
• Garlic
• Jalepenos
• … and blind confidence 🥴

I eyeballed it all (as the ancestors intended), blended it like I meant business, and stared at the final result like a scientist wondering if they just created life or disaster.

Would it burn off my eyebrows or bless my breakfast?

Only time (and taste buds) would tell.

Just in case you thought I wouldn’t write it down… I did.

Naturally, the test subject for this experimental sauce was my poor, unsuspecting breakfast.

i'll wait

I made some simple eggs, and wrapped it up with cheese, in a burro and drizzled—okay, poured—the hot sauce like I was starring in a cooking video.

Took a bite and waited.

🥚🔥💥

VERDICT:
Was it edible? Absolutely.
Delicious? Honestly… yes.
A bit too spicy for a soft homemaking day? Maybe.
Would I do it again? Already did. Twice.

My taste buds took a hit, but my pride soared.

Because homemade hot sauce? That’s next-level domestic goddess energy.

Of course, after all that culinary chaos came the clean-up. Which, in theory, should be simple. But let’s be real:

How does one person making breakfast create this many dishes?

The counters looked like an episode of CSI: Hot Sauce Unit.

So I got to work: sponge in hand, soap on deck, channeling my inner kitchen witch.

let's tackle this ish
let’s tackle this ish

There’s something incredibly satisfying about restoring order after a small whirlwind.

✨ Sponge? Activated.
🥛 Counters? Wiped.
🪡 Mood? Improved.

And yes, I lit a candle after. Lavender and citrus.

I’m not a savage.

Then it was onto the great room.

Nothing major—just a vibe check and a reset.

I fluffed the pillows, folded a blanket (the dog promptly unfurled it), and wiped down surfaces that were honestly fine but I needed that little “look what I did!” serotonin hit.

It wasn’t deep cleaning. It was more like a glam touch-up for the living room.

A little zhuzh to keep things looking fresh and feeling good.

I even opened a window.

Let the breeze in.

Let the stress out.

(Until a bug flew in. Then we closed the window.)

Listen. That first breakfast was spicy. I needed something sweet to balance it out. So yes, I made a second breakfast.

Call it brunch, call it survival snacking—either way, it hit the spot.

Of course, this meant another round of cleaning. But it was worth it. Because the only thing better than breakfast… is second breakfast.

🍾 Clean-up round two: engaged.
🥚 Satisfaction level: hobbit.

Next up: the sacred act of stripping the bed.

There is no chore more deeply satisfying than washing your sheets and remaking the bed like you’re prepping a hotel suite.

I tossed those sheets in the wash with lavender detergent and fluffed pillows like they were auditioning for a catalog.

Folded some laundry. Vacuumed under the bed. Reset everything.

It’s those little rituals that make the home feel alive and loved. And okay, yes, I did take a 30-second nap on the bare mattress just because I could.

To wrap it all up, I tackled the small-but-mighty laundry pile.

Folded what I could. Paired a few socks.

Ignored the basket of unmatched ones because I value my sanity.

Laundry’s never done but it’s always satisfying to get a little ahead. Today?

A few loads folded, one in the dryer, and zero emotional damage. Win.

Somewhere between fluffing a pillow and folding a towel, I found myself thinking…

celebrate the small wins. they matter!!
Celebrate the small wins. They matter!!

These small homemaking days? They matter.

They may not be impressive. Or viral. Or Pinterest-perfect.

But they ground me. They remind me that I don’t have to “do it all” to feel at peace.

Sometimes, just showing up—softly, calmly, with a little bit of humor and a hot sauce experiment—is enough.

And on days like today, that’s more than enough.

Welcome to the official kickoff of my new summer routine, where the vibes are fresh, the windows are open, and the to-do list is coming for us all. But don’t worry—we’re tackling it together!

If you’ve been looking for a reason to deep clean that bedroom or finally clear out the chicken coop (yes, we’re going there), this is your sign.

This season is all about refreshing our homes, our habits, and maybe even a few dusty windows.

This post is your backstage pass to my most recent Clean With Me day. It’s a cozy, productive mix of daily chores, home resets, and full-on summer prep.

Whether you’re cleaning along, watching for motivation, or just here for the vibes—you’re in the right place. Let’s dive in!

We kicked off with a little kitchen and living room reset—the kind of surface-level tidy that magically makes everything feel calmer.

Dishes got washed, counters wiped down, mystery crumbs banished. In the living room, I fluffed every pillow with the confidence of an HGTV host and straightened throws like it was a home decor commercial.

It wasn’t a deep clean, but it was the kind of clean that shifts your energy.

Also: it counts as cardio if you hustle between the sink and the laundry basket. I don’t make the rules.

Next up: refreshing my home gym space.

Look, summer goals don’t just happen—sometimes you need to give yourself the visual cue to move your body.

So I cleared the floor, dusted off the dumbbells (the shame), and lit a candle that smells like motivation.

home gym glow up

I added a basket to hold towels and resistance bands, moved my yoga mat front and center, and declared the space officially open for business.

No memberships required, just vibes and accountability.

Unless you’re willing to add to my tip jar. *wink

Listen. There is nothing—NOTHING—like climbing into a bed with fresh, crisp sheets.

let's get physical!
let’s get physical!

So I stripped everything.

Vacuumed the mattress.

Swapped out the duvet cover.

And yes, I even lint-rolled the headboard because it’s a judgment-free zone and the dog has opinions.

Then I turned to the windows. Those streaks? Gone.

Fingerprints? A distant memory.

Sunlight? Coming in like a cinematic dream.

If your windows have been screaming for help, consider this your friendly nudge.

Now for the glam part of the day: cleaning the chicken coop.

Because the girls? They deserve a summer refresh too.

And honestly, if you’ve never cleaned a coop while holding a conversation with a sassy hen named Carlotta, you haven’t lived.

I scooped, scrubbed, and refilled their water and food like a suburban farmer with a content creation schedule. And when it was all done, the hens strutted around like I had just renovated their tiny chicken mansion.

They were feeling themselves, and I wasn’t mad about it.

Washing the windows gets its own section because honestly?

It deserves it.

There’s something so ridiculously satisfying about watching years of grime melt away and the light pour in like a reward.

It’s also a great moment to reflect while you scrub. Like, who were we before microfiber cloths and streak-free spray?

Who are we now? Glistening. That’s who.

Once everything was clean, fluffed, scrubbed, and reset, I did one final walk-through.

Lit some fresh candles.

Put on a summery playlist.

Watered the plants.

It was giving “main character in a summer montage” and I fully leaned in.

Because that’s what this season is for.

Fresh starts, little wins, and cozy moments that make the daily stuff feel just a little bit magical.

struggle

If you needed a sign to start your own summer clean-up, this is it. Throw on your fave playlist or one of my Clean With Me videos, grab that laundry pile, and start small. One drawer. One room. One ridiculously satisfying wipe-down at a time.

And if you’re here for inspo or just the digital company, I’m so glad you’re here. Let’s keep showing up for our homes—and ourselves.

Until next time: keep it tidy, keep it spicy, and keep it summer-fresh! ✨🌞

Okay, now let’s talk about something completely unhinged… and absolutely joyful: my Thursday Night Dance Challenges. 💃✨

Every Thursday, I pick a completely random song—whatever pops into my brain (or algorithm)—learn the dance that day, and film it. That’s it. No fancy choreography background, no professional lighting, and definitely no shame. Just vibes, rhythm-ish, and a lot of laugh-snorting. 🤸‍♀️💀

I post it online as proof that yes, I am keeping this promise to myself: to have fun this summer, no matter how packed life gets with chores, chickens, garden beds, and oh yeah, a book launch. 🙃

And here’s where you come in, dear reader/viewer/future backup dancer:
👉 Remix the video.
👉 Do your version.
👉 Join in.

Seriously! These aren’t “cool girl” dances. I’m not about to start touring with Beyoncé. I’m just someone in mismatched socks vibing in my living room to Shania Twain, Pitbull, or maybe the TikTok song of the week.

So if you’ve been lurking like, “That looks fun but I have zero rhythm,”—perfect. That’s the whole point. Come be chaotic with me. 😂

You can tag me, stitch it, duet it, or even just do it privately in your kitchen while your pets judge you from the hallway. It still counts. This is summer joy, people!

Also! Speaking of doing a lot—my next book is launching this July on Kickstarter! 🚀📖
Yes, the very one I’ve been quietly (loudly) working on behind the scenes. If you’ve ever wanted a feel-good beach read filled with heart, drama, and maybe a little chaos (like me, but in print), you’re going to love it.

So while I’m sweating through garden chores and chicken coop makeovers by day, and dancing like nobody’s watching by night—just know: there’s a book baby coming too. And I’d love your support when it drops!
