A Cozy Spring Reset: Small Projects, Fresh Paint, and Letting the Season In 🌱✨
Spring always sneaks up on me.
One minute I’m bundled up pretending winter is cozy and charming, and the next I’m side‑eyeing my walls like… You feel a little dingy, bestie. 😅
This reset wasn’t about doing everything. It was about doing a few things on purpose. Small projects. Fresh energy. Letting the house breathe again after winter. And yes, getting distracted by chickens along the way because honestly… that’s just my brand now. 🐔💅
So grab your coffee, your cleaning gloves, or your emotional support laundry basket, and reset with me.
Starting Soft (Because Spring Doesn’t Need to Be Loud) ☁️
I didn’t kick this day off with alarms, timers, or a color‑coded checklist. I eased into it. Cozy clothes on.
Hair is doing its own thing. Windows cracked just enough to let the breeze remind me that yes, the seasons are changing.
Spring resets don’t need urgency. They need intention.
This wasn’t a “whole house overhaul in one day” situation. This was a start‑where‑you‑are kind of reset. One project leads to another. Momentum builds.
Suddenly, you’re painting walls and reorganizing shelves like it was always part of the plan. 😌
The Bedroom Glow‑Up (A.K.A. Why Is There White Paint Open?) 🎨🛏️
You know when you move something and accidentally unlock a whole project?
That was me.
The white paint was already open. The walls were asking politely for a refresh. And honestly… spring felt like permission.

Fresh white walls are the adult version of a clean slate. Everything feels lighter. Brighter.
Like the room itself took a deep breath.
While the paint dried, I swapped out bedding, fluffed pillows, and gave the bedroom a gentle reset. Nothing fancy.
Just clean sheets, calm energy, and that deeply satisfying feeling of this room is working for me again.
And yes, laundry happened. Because it always does. 🧺
Laundry is the background character of every reset. Always present. Never thanked. But absolutely essential.
The Snowball Effect of “Just One Thing” 🧹🌱
(aka how spring homemaking actually starts)
Here’s the thing no one tells you about spring resets:
They almost never start with motivation.
They start with annoyance.
A drawer that sticks.
A pile that migrates.
A corner you keep side-eyeing while muttering, “I’ll deal with you later.”
And then one day, usually in socks and a questionable outfit choice, you say, fine. Just one thing.
Not the whole house.
Not a perfect reset.
Just. One. Thing.
And that’s when the snowball starts rolling.

Because once you fix one small irritation, your brain goes,
“Oh. We’re capable today.”
Suddenly you’re wiping a surface you didn’t plan to touch.
Then you’re folding laundry you meant to “let marinate.”
Then somehow the music’s on, the windows are cracked, and you’re standing there like… who is she? 😌✨
This is the spring homemaking mindset shift that actually works.
Not pressure.
Not aesthetics.
Not “I need to reinvent my life by Tuesday.”
Just momentum.
Spring doesn’t demand perfection.
It invites movement.
And once you start moving, things snowball in the best way.
🌷 The Spring Reset Mindset (read this twice)
Spring homemaking is not about doing everything.
It’s about doing the next right thing.
You don’t need:
• a full house reset
• new bins
• a 47-step routine
• or a free weekend
You need:
• one task
• one decision
• one visible win
That’s it.
Because visible wins fuel energy.
Energy fuels confidence.
Confidence fuels follow-through.
This is how homes change.
This is how routines shift.
This is how you stop feeling stuck.
🧼 A Gentle Spring Reset Checklist (Pick 3. Ignore the rest.)
Not a to-do list. A menu. Choose what sounds doable today.
Quick Wins (15–20 minutes):
☐ Clear one surface completely
☐ Swap out winter throws or pillows
☐ Wipe light switches + door handles
☐ Empty one drawer and put only the good stuff back
☐ Open the windows and let the house breathe
Mood Shifters:
☐ Change the bed sheets
☐ Light a candle or diffuser
☐ Put on music that makes you feel slightly main-character
☐ Tidy the room you spend the most time in
Spring Prep (No Pressure Edition):
☐ Make a list of spring projects (do NOT start them all)
☐ Check what cleaning supplies you actually have
☐ Note what you’re excited to refresh this season
☐ Decide what can wait. Yes, that counts as progress.
🌱 Your Turn!
Tell me:
What’s the one thing you could do today that would make your home feel lighter?
Not perfect.
Not impressive.
Just lighter.
Drop it in the comments. Or write it on a sticky note. Or say it out loud like you’re making a deal with yourself.
Because spring homemaking isn’t about the big reveal.
It’s about starting the snowball… and letting it roll.
And if you’re resetting right alongside me?
You’re exactly where you’re supposed to be. 💛
Chicken Interruptions (Highly Encouraged) 🐔🌧️
At some point, the rain rolled in, which meant the girls needed feeding, supervising, and general emotional support.
They wandered inside, got cozy, and absolutely stole the show.
There is nothing like chickens casually existing in your house to keep you grounded in reality.
This reset wasn’t linear. It didn’t need to be.
Some days are paint days. Some days are chicken days. Some days are both.
A Countertop Garden That Carries Me Through Winter 🌿💚
Let’s talk about the little garden that could.
My countertop hydroponic garden has been a lifesaver this winter. Fresh greens. Basil. A pepper plant doing its thing like it pays rent.
It’s kept my gardening spirit alive when outdoor beds were still sleeping.
As I cleaned the kitchen and tossed together a simple salad, I added fresh greens straight from the garden and felt ridiculously proud. Highly recommend growing something you can immediately eat. It does wonders for morale.

Kitchen Reset, Light Edition 🍽️✨
This wasn’t a deep clean. This was a reset.
Counters cleared. Dishes done. Floors handled (once the mop heads finally arrive… is delivery chaos happening to everyone or just us? 😅).
The goal wasn’t perfection. The goal was functionality.
A kitchen that feels calm makes the whole house feel calmer.
Gardening Thoughts, Even When It’s Not Gardening Season 🌱
Spring always gets me thinking about the garden.
What worked last year. What didn’t. What I want to do differently.
Some years you get tomatoes for days. Other years you get… lessons.
Right now, it’s about planning. Clearing beds. Dreaming a little. Letting winter gently release its grip while spring taps on the door.
This is the season of getting ready, not rushing.
Wrapping It All Up (And Embracing the Mess) 🤍
By the end of the day, the house looked like life had happened.
Paint supplies out. Laundry mid‑fold. A little chaos lingering.
And that’s okay.
Because resets aren’t about erasing life. They’re about making space for it.
If you’re resetting something right now, your home, your routines, or just your mindset, you’re not behind. You’re exactly where you need to be.
Tell me what you’re working on today. And if you made it this far, you deserve a cozy moment. ☕✨

Thanks for resetting with me. Let’s do this season gently. 💚
Life IS better in the garden! But, before i let you go, let me leave you with some more content from previous spring seasons!
Think about it… you don’t have the phone ringing and pinging, just birds chirping and ladybugs floating. There’s no television to distract you from tending to the peaceful activities of pruning, sowing, and tinkering.

If you feel like it, you can bring a book and just relax in your Adirondacks.
A cold carbonated, distilled water with freshly squeezed lemons and mashed blueberries to freshen your palate.
And… if you so choose, you can take a fun look back at a flashback video we made on how my own gardening journey has gone!
A FUN LOOK BACK ON MY GARDENING JOURNEY // Spring Vlog
Take a watch, and come back here and let’s chat about it in the comments below:
A FUN LOOK BACK ON MY GARDENING JOURNEY
In this two-part video series, I thought it would be fun to share what and where my backyard garden has come from, to where it’s at, and some shifts and changes it’s made throughout the last couple of gardening seasons!
You’d be surprised at how much can change!
I just couldn’t believe it!
On top of that.. can you believe that I am quite certain there is much more footage from gardening-times past?
Still for me to get thru?
Me neither.
It’s bananas.
Life IS Better In The Garden
Life IS better in the garden though, isn’t it?!
I mean, I’ve really enjoyed the process of gardening, even through the fails, the bugs, and even the cute little frog I found!
(Actually, I think he was a toad. So, be careful if you come across those little poisonous guys!)
After I saved him, he hopped off, and I never saw him again, so hopefully he found his way along, in his own special journey in my garden, safe and sound.
Possibly… somewhere *shrugs*
Before we get to the next part of the gardening video series, I wanted to take a moment to thank Jenna from Soul Care Sundays for having me on as a guest along with Mama Magie!

I couldn’t have had a better time chatting all things Spring Cleaning!
Now, ya’ll know I’m cleaning and decluttering all year round; but, doesn’t the springtime just make you wanna grab those cleaning gloves and bucket o’ supplies and get to the windows?
And baseboards?
…ceiling fans?
Oh! Closet dumping?
Shuffling? And rearranging? …stove deep cleaning?
Is it just me?
*likely, yes
Oh look, alter ego is here!
*hello

Wasn’t that a fun watch?! I enjoyed being a part of that show! IT was great to hear how the other women tackle their to-do lists when it comes to all things cleaning, tidying, and clutter!
I am so excited when I get to share something I am passionate about with others.
I often consume so much content when it comes to clutter, decluttering, and the business matters of the homemaker!
I just LOVE it!
Life IS better in the Garden
And, heading outdoors is no exception!
There’s something to be said about taking those spring cleaning vibes outside!
I enjoy using the hubs tools, pushing dirt around with the blower, and tending to the plants.
There’s a lot of joy to be hath, whilst sitting in your outdoor staycation setup. Relaxing in the warm sun, and having dinner out on the patio at your new bistro set.
Let’s take a look at the next video and chat about it below in the comments:
In second part of a two-part video thread, I thought it would be fun to share what and where my backyard garden has come from, to where it’s at, and some shifts and changes it’s made throughout the last couple of gardening seasons!

Don’t worry, that pink, ill-fitted, wrap shirt you saw on camera was definitely, donated… lol
Stay tuned, guys n’ gals!
But, if you are an author… you are finding the humor in this, and already know, that things rarely goes as planned.
My 3-month plan of attack for book two turned into 12 months, and then a couple years, and landed on – here we are – 7 years later!
DON’T QUIT.
